Emulated Berserker Works Computer Games by Saberhagen?
I am trying very hard to find emulated versions of some very rare
out-of-print software. I am looking for games released by Joan &
Fred Saberhagen's company: Berserker Works Ltd. The games were made
and sold between 1982 and 1989. They were designed for home computers
popular at the time, i.e. Apple II series 48k, Macintosh 512k,
Commodore 64, Atari 400/800, IBM-PC, IBM-PC jr. Several of the games
were based on Fred's popular scifi books about the Berserkers (giant
robotic space fortresses from a long forgotten war whose mission is to
destroy all life in the galaxy). I am trying to find emulated copies
of these games, ESPECIALLY Apple II versions, so that they can be
included on a CD full of historical software which will accompany an
upcoming book entitled the "New Media Reader." Nick Montfort is
putting together this book and CD for the MIT Press about electronic
and other non-traditional forms of literature. I also hope to find
these games for display on an official Berserker fan web site I am
making. I am operating with cooperation/authorization of the
Saberhagens, who hold the rights to these games. Here is the list of
all the games I am looking for emulated copies of:
BERSERKER RAIDS
WINGS OUT OF SHADOW
WIZARD WAR
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
I am especially interested in finding the first two, and again
especially interested in finding Apple II versions (as that is the
only emulator which they currently plan on including with the CD).
A few of you out there have already helped me and I thank you. I am
stepping up my efforts to find working emualted copies of these games.
Also, I've had little experience tinkering with emulated games and the
various emulators to get them to work. If anyone is willing to help
me, or could point me toward any helpful resources, that would be most
appreciated.
