    It has nothing to do with the CPU to manipulate disk drive for the
speed.  It is only hardware that is built in disk controller card to
manipulate the head, arm and the motor stepper.
    GCR and MFM formats often have the same timing speeds.  If you refer
fast transfer, it has to do with the interleaves.  For example, 1:1
interleave is probably slow because it has to read from sector to sector
sequence.  If we are going to use 2:1 and/or 4:1, it will benefit great
performance.
    If Apple IIgs is running at 2.8MHz and higher, it always reduces to 1
MHz automatically while access to read/write to slot 6 only.  3.5 drives
might be the same?
