Yes... Basically, the ROM makes the Apple Cat II act like the Hayes
Micromodem II. Earlier terminal software, including AE Express II (pre-AE
Pro), didn't recognize the native Apple Cat II interface. The ROM also lets
you make phone calls to BBS's without the use of term software. The Hayes
Micromodem II used ctrl commands to control the modem. For example, if your
modem was in slot #2, you could do the following:

in#2
ctrl-a
ctrl-f
ctrl-a
ctrl-q

then enter the phone number.

The Apple Cat II modem rocks!!!!!
