--> I just did a quick check. Page 133 of the EDD v4 manual, section I,
is all about adjusting the drive speed of several A2 disk drives.

a disk drive should run at exactly 300 rpm. This means that
most authorized Apple dealers will ONLY adjust the drive speed
to this specified speed. As said elsewhere in this manual, we
have done extensive testing with running disks at different speeds,
for normal operation and have found that the best "all around"
drive speed is 298.5 rpm. We have found that 300 rpm is border
line on the fast or "high" side.

Admittedly, this doesn't solve your problem; but if you _do_
need to check your drive speed - EDD is at least one `tool'
