Greetings,
I've uploaded a disk image that contains a file version of this game along with the docs converted to a TXT file on the same disk (seemed a reasonable idea to keep them together).
I was able to confirm that track $00 sector $0A is in fact NOT used, so that clobbered sector in the .nib image likely does match the original.
Some short notes:
- boot0 copies itself from $800 down to $200, then continues at $20F.
- loads the next sector into $300 and continues at $301.
- loads RWTS into $7700-$7FFF and continues at $7700.
- loads $3700-$70FF, starting at track $00 sector $0B and going to track $05 sector $03. Note, this is DOS 3.2 format, so 13-sector tracks. Total of 58 sectors loaded.
- game entry is right at $3700, but it moves and clears out other places in memory as part of set up.
- Nearly normal DOS 3.2 RWTS and format, except the address header checksum is seeded with the volume number from $2F, rather than a #$00 (compare $798E to DOS 3.2 $B98E to see the difference).
- It is possible to Advance Demuffin the disk to normalize to DOS 3.3, but to get it to work would require replacing the DOS 3.2 RWTS with DOS 3.3. Easier to just put it into a file (resulting 58-sectors loaded saved as 60-sector file).
- John Broderick's name appears on track $02 sector $00, so is loaded with the game. I haven't checked if there's a way to display it from the game yet (Easter egg?)
- Anyone look up this person?
Thanks to the original uploader of the .nib image for preserving this.
