It's referred to as the volume number, and you can specify the volume number
when using the INIT command, like so:
INIT HELLO, S6, D1, V50
This will initialize the disk in drive 1 of slot 6 to be volume number 50,
and will save the current BASIC program in memory as HELLO on the disk.
