Re: Any technical difference to the "WOZ" IIGS?

The only difference between a "Woz" IIgs and a "non-Woz" IIgs of the
same vintage (late 1986) is the silk screened signature on the lid.

There are differences between these machines and more recent models.

The original IIgs firmware (now known as "ROM 00") was upgraded (to "ROM
01") several months after the machine was released.

The earliest machines (including most if not all "Woz" machines) also
had a minor fault with their video graphics controller chip, which
caused cosmetic display problems in double hi-res graphics mode (and
some machines also had the problem in 80-column text mode).

Apple provided the upgrade to ROM 01 and a corrected VGC free of charge
through Apple dealers.

In 1989, Apple released an improved version of the IIgs, which had more
memory on its motherboard (both RAM and ROM), and an updated version of
the firmware ("ROM 3"). There were several other minor improvements,
but nothing earth shattering.
