As to this issue, I did a test a while ago.

 - I replaced manual inject floppy drive on my PowerPC with auto inject 
   floppy from old IIci and then tried to make GS disks. The result was a 
   failure as I expected. Although auto inject floppy drive is in, the ROM
   routine of the new macintosh does not use unique feature of auto 
   inject floppy drive, it treats it as manual inject floppy drive.

Here is a question to Mac experts. Is it possible to extract floppy drive 
control routine from old Mac ROM's and use it on new Macs? It can be an 
extension or standalone program which does the job of DiskCopy using the 
old floppy drive control routine. (Of course, in any case, you need auto 
inject floppy drive, which is not a serious problem, since old Macs 
abound cheap these days.)

One more idea, though I did not have time to test it yet.
	1. Format 800K blank diskettes from IIGS side using ProDOS 
	   utilities etc.
	2. Mount IIGS disk image on newer Macintosh using DiskCopy. (The 
	   file sharing should be turned off.)
	3. Insert 800K blank diskette formatted in IIGS.
	4. Now copy all the files from mounted image to physical blank 
	   800K diskette.
	
At least for non-bootable ProDOS diskettes, newer Macs are producing 
usable diskettes. Only bootable diskettes made from newer Macs have 
problems. So maybe the previous procedure works since the boot sector 
should be correct since it is made from IIGS. If anyone can find time to 
test this recipe and let the result known, it would be nice.

Of course, this does not solve the problem for someone with no software 
at all since it requires ProDOS formatting capability. But in worst case, 
if you have enough patience, you can start from "nil".

	1. Transfer DOS3.3 using simple serial connection.
	2. Make DOS3.3 bootable diskette.
	3. Transfer ADT using simple serial connection.
	4. Transfer ProDOS utilities diskette using ADT.

Now you have some starting points...
