No, it uses the same mechanism as all the 800k drives whether Apple II or Mac
but there's no daisy-chain board involved unless you consider the IIc+ itself
a daisychain board

There's been a misconception floating around for some time on the differences
between the 3.5" IIgs drive and the 3.5" UniDisk. They both use exactly the
same drive mechanism. The difference is all in the daisy-chain board.
The 3.5" UniDisks daisy-chain board is larger and contains basically a small
computer(65C02,RAM, & ROM) for controlling the drive.
