Networking to an older Mac is very easy. All you need is a printer cable
connecting the printer ports, and a network boot disk for the IIgs. The
latest system disks can make the network boot disk. Mac OS 7.5.X has
filesharing that can be enabled, allowing the IIgs to see the Mac. The Mac
can't see the IIgs, though. I suppose if you can network the Mac to your
Linux box there may be some way for the IIgs to see it, but that's beyond
me. Certainly the Mac can be set up to see the Linux box, but I'm not sure
if the IIgs can see thru the Mac to the Linux box.
There is also the new ethernet card for the IIgs. Perhaps that's the best
solution. There are some experts here who can help you with that.
