Books on assembler? I learned it by studying the Apple ][+ ROM printout
in the back of the manual, along with the Inside Apple DOS printouts,
then got a book on 6502 from somewhere -- couldn't find them with a
quick look, but they might still be around here somewhere.

Were you using the Apple II Tech Ref manual or ? I don't have anything
anymore. Basically starting from just a little bit better than scratch. I
recall Basic commands, a little bit of programming Applesoft. But almost
nothing regarding the standard housekeeping with assembler, etc.

I wanted to make a mod to the AppleSoft Line Editor (A.L.E.) published in
Nibble
Magazine in '82', I believe. Great little line editor - I keyed the whole
thing in using
Merlin. But, that's another problem. I need at least a listing of the
source. Don't
have that anymore either. Though I did pickup the program at Asimov.
"What's Where in the Apple", W.F. Luebbert, as I recall, was a somewhat
commented
reference to the Apple ROM. "Apple Machine Language", Inman, was
another reference I used. The Merlin Assembler manual is important to
me right now, as I still have the software but nothing that shows me
how to use it. My Apple ][+ bit the dust back in 1985, and I just went
to the IBM PC after that - which basically sucked all the fun out of
computing for me.
Any or all of the above referenced books I would imagine, would be helpful.
Thanks much for the response, Bill.
