Yeaahhh!!!
After about 1 hour of playing with my new Gatorbox CS and some tips from
William, I got my IIgs successfully networking with my Windows2000 Server
machine!!
Surprisingly little to do, actually. The steps I followed:
- hooked up the Gatorbox to my modem port with a stock 8 pin DIN printer
cable (plugged into the AppleTalk port on the Gatorbox)
- hooked up the Gatorbox to my hub using a BNC ethernet cable
- turned my modem port to AppleTalk (I have a Rom 03 GS)
- shared an NTFS folder from W2K with Macintosh sharing
- enabled the Guest user on W2K
- installed AppleShare on the IIgs and rebooted
- opened the AppleShare control panel and logged into my W2K PC as "guest"
with no password, and my shares showed up! They mounted just fine.
Wow - I'm so happy! I've been working at this for months! Thanks to
everyone for all of their help: Marsha, Menace, William, and Mark... My
IIgs is finally free from it's horrible isolation... it even looks happier.
:)
Cheers to all!!
Tim
