Does your IIgs support USB, FireWire, CD-R drives?  Is it practical to add
cd-roms, hard drives, ethernet, 1.44MB floppies (without it costing as much
as the significantly faster, bottom-of-the-line PC)?

I mean, what is the point of using a IIgs?  What does it actually have?
There is no OpenGL support for 3D action games.  There is no FPU for the
number crunching performed by accountants, engineers, or scientists.  Heck,
the resolution is so low that WYSIWYG word processors, or page layout
software, or graphics design software, or CADD software is not practical.

We use the computers we use because we *like* them.  Sure, the iMac doesn't
have all the ports and is difficult to expand internally.  But to say that
Wintel PCs do not have their problems is a long shot too.

Look, I use ethernet to network all but two computers, and one printer.
Apple provides the software to bridge the LocalTalk and ethernet network,
so I'm happy.  I hardly ever use floppies, except while restoring a
DiskCopy image for my IIgs or while getting device drivers to my creaking
old 486.  The reasons for doing so are rare, so there is no reason to obtain
a floppy drive for the iMac.  Pretty much all of the software out there is
distributed online or on CD anyway.

So give it a break.  There is *nothing* wrong with a iMac unless you buy one
for an unsuitable task.  Similarly, there is nothing wrong with a IIgs
unless you try to make it fulfill modern fancies.
