The term_power mod is very simple and cheap, only requiring a single diode
to be added to the back of the card. Also this could be removed without much
difficulty.
I have done it to my card although I discovered it isn't required for the
drives I'm using at the moment.
If you find someone with some basic soldering experience they could add the
part for you.
