This is true only if you are not mechanic enough to assemble it
correctly.  For example, A hopped up Myers Manx could beat $25,000 or
$30,000 Italian sports cars on the race track back in it's day.  In 1968
a $30,000 car was _supposed_ to be a lot of car.  (But seldom really
was.)

And, a kit computer is worthless only if you lack the ability to
assemble it.

You can buy an obsolete hacker's computer Goodwill or some other thrift
store for a lot less than that.

BTW, I am posting this from a Windows box, but still enjoy just fooling
around with an old 8-bit computer almost every day.
