Win2K Server adds support for AppleShare over TCP/IP, but still supports
AppleShare over AppleTalk (the latter is going to be dropped in WinXP).
The main issue is the user authentication methods (UAMs) which the
server will accept. As part of the logon sequence, the client and
server negotiate to determine the most secure UAM which is supported by
both computers. The IIgs is rather limited - I think the only method it
will use is "cleartext password", which allows a network packet sniffer
to capture the password.
NT Server and/or Win2K Server might require a more secure authentication
method, or even require their own custom one - you can install
extensions on the Mac to add additional UAMs, but this isn't supported
on the IIgs.
This might prevent you from logging on as anything other than a guest.
