MPJA had a nice 12v input, +12-12+5-5 output DC converter,
but they ran out of them.

Let us know what you end up using.

A SCSI card in a portable? If this were my project, I might leave
access to a slot so I could plug a SCSI card in, but it wouldn't be
a permanent part. SCSI devices tend to be large, heavy, and consume
alot of power. All things you try to stay away from with a portable.

I'd put a Focus in it, no other drives. Then I'd scrunch the heck out
of a 3.5 drive and put it in another case. Leave access to the
disk drive connector on the back of the laptop, and when you need to
store on 3.5 disk, plug in the disk drive.

That will be nice!

I'd use a ROM1 I think. I've had the best luck running IIgs systems
with ROM 03 MotherBoards.

You'll want to consider power consumption, size, reliability,
and compatibility.

You will make the case out of TIG welded ?aluminum? That would be
great. Light and tough.

(post is just my opinions)

Sounds like a fun project.
