It sounds like you need to the access points for the RWTS routine. 
(Read-Write-Track-Sector)  Normally this is accomplished by making a
short assembly program that loads the zero page then calls the RWTS
routine which places the data in memory.   This is very strait forward
and the information can be found easily enough if you have Beneath Apple
Dos.  Unfortunately I do not have this handy here at work.
