Re: APPLEII GS
Go to the web site: www.a2central.com . You can order
the disk from them for $2 per disk. Once you get the disk,
you can then use a null modem to pull other disk images to
the //gs and use Shrinkit 3.4 to unpack them back to disk.
You will need a Mac serial cable with the mini-8 plug to
a standard serial adapter (null modem adapter). You will
also need to order the Telecom package from them so
that you can then transfer files between the //gs and a
internet connected computer.
I recently used a //e with a super serial card in terminal
mode and a program called ADT (Apple Disk Transfer)
to create diskettes of Prodos for the //e. Then using Prodos
booted the //gs using a 5.25 inch drive. Using the terminal
package with the null modem adapter, I was then able
to download the GS/OS operating system disk and unpack
them using Shrinkit. This process was lengthy and took me
a couple of days to get enough disk to boot the //gs.
It probably would be simpler to just order the disk from
A2Central. It requires a lot of time and patience to transfer
the disk via a serial cable w/null modem adapter.
