powerbook 170 ..........help

I have an old mac powerbook 170 with system 7.1 in it.  It started going 
errant by showing a blurry (almost double) print both in the folders and
when I opened a file.  Now I get an image of a disk with a question mark in
it.  I am a musician an not a computer buff.  Could anyone direct me to
where I could get some advice on how to procede in correcting this problem.
