Help identifying card

Just perusing some of my old Apple // cards tonight and came across
one that I can't identify. It's a full-length card, and has "Digital
Research" printed on it. It also has what appears to be some RAM, a
Z80 cpu, a Motorola 6845 and a bunch of other support chips. Three of
the chips have stickers on them that read "Gold Card Mailbox", "Gold
Card Boot From", and "Gold Card DMC". I'm assuming that this would be
a "Gold Card", but what the heck does it DO?
Anyone?
