Installer issue -- Need a hand
Need a hand up here. Hopefully, the memory is gone, and I'm just overlooking
something easy.
Problem: I cannot install AppleShare (or anything else) to my hard disk.
What I've tried: I've booted from a System 6.0.1 floppy, and have run the
Installer. I made certain that the "Easy Update" button was active at the
Installer's main screen, but of course, I selected "Customize." I click on the
"Disk" button on the right of the screen to select :HD1 as the "Disk to update."
At the bottom of my screen, -sometimes- I see "Installations and/or removals on
this disk are not possible. Writing to this disk is not allowed (it may be
locked)." I have the same issue with :HD2. Otherwise, if I don't see that
message, the 'Install' button is greyed out and I'm in the same predicament.
Normally, I boot from :HD1, and it's connected to a RamFAST board in slot 7
(:HD1 and :HD2 are partitions on the same physical drive, if that matters). I'm
scratching my head over this, as I ran the RamFast utilities (2.01c is the
version number) and definitely see that the hard drives are -not- write
protected. So what am I doing wrong?
As an aside, I've never done AppleTalk from a IIgs, and I'll be darned if I can
track down the Apple IIgs AppleTalk User's Guide. Do I need to do anything
other than have "Network: AppleShare" installed, with the appropriate slot
defined in the Control Panel (and the connector and cable in place, of course
:)?
Thanks in advance...
