The archiver program with gs/os has known problems and is considered by many to
be unusable.
Prosel has worked many times on my hard drive partitions. I have heard Prosel is
free now.
The best thing is to copy the whole volume onto one of equal size. This way you
can use the block method. This way it copies everything (including the errors).
You can then experiment on saving the copy and not mess up the original any
worse.
