No doubt about that--therein lies the real challenge. But with today's
smaller components and batteries wouldn't it be possible? I take it the
internal half of the power supply would have to be miniaturized to make
room for the battery.

It would have to be external.

The best setup, IMHO, would be to have an easily removable battery (like
the type used in RC cars, planes, etc. that have the little connector)
that is charged externally while at the same time being able to switch
back to the "brick on a leash" when you're at home. The access for the
battery could be cut into the side.

I'm far from expert on these things; that is why I was wondering whether
anybody had tried it before.
