All Mac drives need a driver...on hard drives, this driver resides
in a special partition on the Mac hard drive. The drive you have
on the IIGS apparently doesn't have this driver installed.
Is there a way to install it without formatting the hard drive?
Probably, but it's not something I ever experiemented with. I
just reformatted my GS hard drive with the Adv.Disk.Util that
comes with GS/OS after running a program called Genex(?) that
extracted a Mac driver out of Adv.DIsk.Util. This allowed me
to hook up my GS HD to my Mac later on when I wanted to make
disk images of my HD for use with Bernie ][ the Rescue.
