Yes, the pinouts are completely different.
4256s are 256K x 4bit 20pin, where as 41256 are 256K x 1bit 16pin, so they
wouldn't even fit the socket.
It takes 8 of the 41256s to make 256KB or 32 to make a single MB.
The RamWorks 512K and RamWorks III (1MB) cards on the IIe and the Apple 1MB
expansion card for the IIc use 41256s.
I am not sure if Ryan has said what brand and model his RAM card is, that
would help greatly.
I was going to suggest looking at Tony D's web pages on RAM cards and chips,
but it appears he's changed his site and it's no longer there.
