	This is a rather exotic solution which rather depends on how much cash
you have. You can set up a Linux machine to go and get your mail and
news on a regular basis. From there you can connect your Apple to it
using a nullmodem cable (assuming you are using an external modem and
serial card). 

	Alternatively some local universities may still have shell accounts.
They would use them to teach UNIX. They may help out if you explain the
situation and ask nicely.
