ADT Not Working

I am trying to load adt on my apple IIe. I have set the jumper settings for
"terminal" per the faq from this newsgroup. I am using a stright through
serial cable per the instructions. When i try to send a text file from hyper
terminal on my win98 system my apple II gets lines of little \ then beeps
quickly 7 times at the end of every line. It does this for a few minutes
then stops. No new files are on the 5.25 disk. I have unchecked "send line
ends with line feed" from hyper terminal.
the dip switch settings on my apple super serial card II are:
sw1 1001111
sw2 1101100
It is in slot 2
hyper terminal is set up:
300 baud
8 none 1
Xon / Xoff
I have been up all night working on this and am about to go crazy! Please
help
