Can your PowerMac emulate a PC running MS-DOS? If it can, you may be able
to use ADTgs. (Not sure about the Mac version of ADT-- it's probably intended
for 68k Macs and, even then, there do not seem to be any reports of success
using MacADT.) For more about these packages and where to get them, see
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2T1TCOM.html .
If you do not have DOS 3.3, you should be able to transfer it using your
NULL modem connection without having a telecom program. It is available as a
dump file which 'types in' the DOS 3.3 code. For more info and sources for the
dump file, see http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2DOSMM.html#023 . (You will
need DOS 3.3 to obtain the Apple II side of ADTgs.)
I do not know of any short telecom program which might be typed in. You
can set up to receive Text fairly easily with the NULL modem connection and
setting IIgs input to the Modem Port via IN#2. The sending computer can type in
stuff just like you can from the keyboard.
The snag is having something (e.g. a decent telecom program) available in
dump form. And, since you're starting from scratch, the program would need to
run under DOS 3.3. Perhaps the DOS 3.3 version of Modem MGR could be converted
to dump form. For info on Modem MGR and other A2 telecom programs see the
Csa2T1TCOM page mentioned earlier.
