Re: More ZipGS Upgrade Woes!!

Hello RubyWand;

Thanks for the reply. I printed off your reccomendations and tried them out.
I removed all cards except for the Zip and the Memory Card. I know that the
system has no problems with the Zip, Second Sight, SCSI, & Memory card but
to be sure I removed 'em all. I than cleaned the contacts on the new -14
chip and re-inserted it. It went in with a satisfying click.

I tried booting up and the same thing. I can actualy get the copyright and
Rom 3 screen but than nothing. More typically is garbled display and
flashing cursors with the odd fatal system error message.

As far as the 74F00 goes, mine has been replaced with a known good 74HC00. I
do not have the original 74F00 to try anymore. Just to sum up;

-I cleaned all pins
-I eliminated any power supply concerns
-I'm running the 74HC00 chip
-The old -7 chip will work while the new -14 will not. Both carry identical
part numbers except for the speed rating.

Has anyone out there had problems with the new -14 chips? Is it possible
that the chips have been changed in some way as to make them not compatible
with the Zip Gs or TransWarp?

Best & Hoping for continued help.....

Marvin Miller
