Welcome, Olcott.
Using the built-in serial port would be easier than using the SSC. Also,
ADTgs (e.g. ADTgs v.91) is designed to work with the built-in IIgs port. It will
not work with SSC. You should be able to get a modem cable (mini-din-8 to 25-pin
dsub) and NULL modem adaptor at a place selling Mac accessories.
