--> Was in one of our Malls yesterday (one we don't normally
get to - but xmas makes all bets off) and just after
entering; saw one of those stand alone kiosks with a
computer-screen and buttons and a slot for your hard-
earned money. This one was quite different than the ones
we've normally seen (and ignored).
What caught my eye was the graphics. Or rather, the lack
of graphics. Remember `Lemonade Stand' and the type of
graphics it displayed? Well, that's the type of graphics
this "Max Life" kiosk was displaying. Black screen, blocky
and chunky monochrome graphics (a few `blocks' had a wee
bit of `texture' - if one really stretches the definition
of that word).
The more I looked at it - the more it seemed like old A2
graphics. One had to slip in a dollar and then answer 20
questions (I think) and then this blocky representation
of a person, would probably move up or down the blocky
ramp to show what age one would live to, based upon how
one answered the questions.
Wasn't about to get any of my money; but I was just I'd
ask if anyone has actually seen an old A2 program like
that (Max Life). It may not be an old A2 program; but it
sure looks like one! And it also suprises me how inventive
people can be in finding ways to separate people from
their money. No matter if it is A2-based, or not; it still
is really old `technology'.
