--> Sightly off topic - but my wife and I played all of the
"Wizardy" releases on the A2 (except for Werdna - weren't
interested in the concept) up 'till Wizardy V. We did
play it (V) - but it was so large and unwieldy (and took
forever to load into our RAM card) and had such a bottle-
neck where the drunken pirate would not let you past
unless you gave him a bottle of rum (we had to sector-
edit `new' bottles all the time - just to get past him
to continue playing in that area of the game); that the
enjoyment of the Wizardry series just evaporated.
We tried again with Wizardy VI and VII on the PC-side
of life - which were OK - but they still had lost much
of the magic of the earlier releases, to us.
As to multi-disk A2 games; I remember Portal taking up
5 disks (I think) and I loved Portal - but got bogged
down with nothing else to pin down, explore, do; until
that `intelligent' online advisor coughed-up another
`clue' and after weeks and nothing changing - bye-bye
Portal. I still remember enjoying it - until that point.
Then there was the Bard's Tale series (and we're firmly
convinced that `Dragon-Wars' was simply the last of the
Bard's Tale releases). They were great.
Then there was the Might & Magic games. We enjoyed them;
but found that they tended to meander off into wandering
around with little point. I seem to recall in the first
one; finishing it (and getting a certificate from New
World computing with our final `score'); yet not getting
to complete some of the side-quests - like finding a
unicorn in some other time-period; 'cuz we couldn't
coordinate the right days, whatever; to get to that
time period. Got to be frustrating and that's counter to
the point of playing those games . . .
Still, in general; we have fond recollections of many
of the games we played on the IIe.
Oh yeah! There was Dark Heart of Uukrul - we were really
disappointed when we finished that one; as we'd been
enjoying it for so long. But everyone has their own favs.
