Sneakers made a big impression. It was the first time I saw really good,
clear, colorful, and _smooth_ animation (linked with responsive controls and
good sound effects) on an Apple II.

When you look back on Apple's early II/II+ marketing, it's hard to
believe that a moderately wealthy computer maker would not have commissioned
a game like Sneakers. Lemonade Stand is cute; but, you'd think Apple would
have tried harder to show off machine capabilities from the start instead of
waiting two or three years for someone else to do it.

"Game on 1 Disk" is a little ambiguous. I guess Mookie means 1 diskette
side.

Picking a Best 1-disk commercial game is very difficult. Sneakers,
Karateka, Super Bunny, Up 'n Down, David's Midnight Magic, Elite, Castle
Wolfenstein, Boulder Dash, Ali Baba, Serpentine, Lady Tut, Sword of Kadash,
and lots of other fine 'action games' come to mind. Then, you have many
strategy, adventure, etc. gems like Dark Forest, Caverns of Freitag, Sherwood
Forest, numerous excellent Text adventures, and some very good chess/card
player programs.

Besides, the "Game on 1 Disk" question asks for the Best Commercial
Game, not one's Favorite Commercial Game-- so, we're supposed to be
objective. My vote goes to Boulder Dash.
