I tried iPhone Explorer with my OSX 10.5.8 PPC. It seems to work
quite well for the task of moving files to/from the ipad for the Best
of FTA.

I haven't been able to get memorySize param to work either. I have
tried
                <bootslot>7</bootslot>
		<bramParam>memorySize:4;speed:zip;zipSpeed:0</bramParam>
and

		<systemParam>memorySize:4</systemParam>
		<emulatorParam>speed:zip;zipSpeed:0</emulatorParam>

	     </config>
but neither version seems to work. (I tried bramparam because the
only example I could find for background used bramparam instead of
system/emulator param keyword.)

Anyway, I vouch that iPhone Explorer does work for the task in
question.
