Wayne, using a modified AppleWorks which allows control characters to load, I
can load the file and then convert all the characters successfully. My question
is...

What are the long lines between sentences/subjects? Are they dividing lines or
something? Should there be a carriage return before and after them? In other
words, how should this look overall? 

Doing it my way, each file would take about 2-3 minutes to convert. (Load,
convert to LC, convert control characters, save back as text.)

Couldn't his be done with a BASIC program -  add 64 to every control character
up to 26, make 27 to 31 a $20,  and add 32 to every other character (uppercase
to lowercase)? It would seem to be faster - if this can be done in BASIC rather
than AppleWorks.
