As Randy said.... it's a fossil.
.ACU was the first compression format created by Floyd Zink to be used by
AppleLink-PE to store files in it's system. However not long after that Andy
Nicholas developed ShrinkIt and it immediately took over as the standard.
The ACU utility isn't available in any of the AOL Apple II libraries, but
looking at some of the old files that were packed using ACU it appears that the
8-bit version of ShrinkIt will unpack an .ACU file.
