: Yes. With System 6.0.1 (including the MS-DOS FST) installed, you can use
: Peter Watson's MUG! New Desk Accessory (NDA) to Read from and Write to MS_DOS
: Zip disks.
: Since the System Finder seems to usually refuse to mount the MS-DOS Zip
: disk, there is a bit of of trick involved. What you need to do is start a
: IIgs application which allows access to NDA's-- i.e. lets you click the Apple
: Menu symbol on the menu bar-- and allows inserting your MS-DOS Zip disk.
: (Many applics leave the System disk niceness watchdog in place and will not
: permit inserting the disk.) Two applications that work are PMPunZIP and
: Platinum Paint.

Okay, so do the Experts know why I can stick my (one) MS-DOS format ZIP
disk into the drive, and GS/OS *doesn't* complain?
I do get the "infinite polling" when I'm in a file picker and the ZIP
drive is empty, but when I stick my MS-DOS format ZIP into the drive,
nothing happens. I get the sound from the finder that says I just mounted
a disk, but the disk does not mount...but as well, the Finder doesn't
complain about it, either.
One thing that might be important: The disk in question was purchased as
a preformatted Macintosh ZIP disk, but was reformatted for MS-DOS...in
fact, I think I used MUG! to do the reformat.
This particular disk has all my web site files on it, because I work on
the web site using a Win'9x PC, a Macintosh G3, and my IIgs...and the
MS-DOS format ZIP disk is the only disk format all three machines have in
common!
