Good for you, Mike. I responded to Tom after a particularly disgusting flame-
fest. Normally I would be too shy to email a person I didn't know, but the
personal attacks on Tom were just too much.

I drove out to SF (from Jersey) to meet him, and we have been close friends
ever since. We don't always agree on everything, but that does not interfere
with friendship. I am happy to declare my support for Tom, and my saddness
at his leaving this group. I will continue to stay in touch with Tom, as well
as help all people I can on this newsgroup.
