I am a VNC enthusiast - it is the greatest thing ever for desktop
computing. With some imagination, you can do all kinds of remote
desktop things. I have been using it for 2+ years and love it. One
thing that's great about VNC is the fact that it is so cross-platform
and free and open-source; there are servers for every known platform
out there, so you can conceivably use your IIGS VNC client as a
terminal for your NT and 95 and Mac and *nix and VMS and Tandem
computers. And with if we had a VNC server on the IIGS, you could run
your IIGS 'headless' and connect to it from any other computer and
manage the computer without even a monitor.
Right now I only have 1 monitor on my main peecee and the one for my
IIGS. But I have 1 Linux box and 4 other NT boxes, all with no
monitors; I have the VNC server running on all of them and have
their "monitors" running inside windows on my main peecee.
If anyone is working on a IIGS port, I am very willing to help in any
way possible.
