That would explain why David wasn't able to get color with his TV set. 

A TV requires 15.625 kHz for PAL and something around 15.7kHz for NTSC.
Most TVs will synchronize between 15.5 and 15.7 kHz, but the better the
timing, the bigger the chance that the color information is recognized.

My TV did accept the IIGS signal, but it seems that this machine
displays nealy everything :-)
