Hello,
I am the author of Westfront PC: The Trials of Guilder, a new
public domain text adventure for the Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000
operating systems. WFPC has been in development for some time.
Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/dunric/westfront.html
Originally conceived on the Commodore 64/128 in May of 1993,
WFPC has grown considerably in size and now rivals online MUDs
, both in size and overall gameplay.
In addition to the release of WFPC on CD-ROM (in April of 2001,
with 50% of the proceeds going to a charity of the buyer's choice)
I am looking to port the game to the following platforms:
o - Macintosh (68k, others)
o - Unix/Linux
o - Atari ST (520 and 1040)
o - Amiga (600,1000,1200,2000,etc.)
o - TRS-80 (Models 1-4, Color Computers 1-3)
o - ZX Spectrum
o - Apple II/IIe
o - Atari 8-bit
o - CP/M (2.2 or less, with terminal emulation)
o - TI-99/4A
o - Wang (300 meg disk packs not required)
In addition, I'd love to see Westfront PC translated to
large scale computing devices, including:
o - DEC PDP-10
o - IBM 3271/72
o - IBM 709
And if anyone wants to tackle porting the game to the Cray-2
Supercomputer, be my guest. =)
I'm serious about the others, though.
Written in BASIC, WFPC should be convertable to most
modern systems because of the limited use of language-
specific functions and subroutines. As long as the
computer system can get by with Minimal BASIC or
Tiny Basic commands, then WFPC is possible (PRINT, FOR/NEXT,
IF/THEN,DIM,COLOR,CLS,MID$,LEFT$,RIGHT$,RND/INT or equivalent)
