Very well then, do you have any more reliable reference to offer?  Or
is this merely your way of saying you're diasgreeing with the jargon file?
 
Remember that the jargon file is based on the actual use of these
words by a large nuber of people, primarily in the Unix and the early
Internet communities.  Of course there's a possibility that the apple2
communities developed a different set of semantics, but that doesn't
imply that the semantics of other communities are "wrong", but merely
that they're different.

Your use of freeware != PD is such a case.   Trying to argue that a piece
of free software may not be "freeware" just doesn't make sense.
