Re: Help diagnose dead //e?
No, it was doing this before I removed the RocketChip that hadn't been touched since I installed it around 1988/89 (and obviously worked since then!) 99.9% confident it is installed correctly. However, it had been turned off since late 2001 and stored in a closet. Only in the last few weeks did I pull it out and power it up. So probably after 3 hours of combined use did I end up leaving it on for another maybe 3 hours straight before I came downstairs and saw it was frozen. As mentioned above, worked only for shorter and shorter periods of time before it finally died and only displays the pattern.
I replaced the RocketChip with the original 6502 (pre-enhanced //e kit - 1986? I'm not sure what I did with the 65C02). Pretty clear that all pins are in their right place.
I've been trying to find the diagnosis documentation Michael recommended, but the best I've been able to google so far is a dead link to a PDF (for euro model?) and the official Apple guides that seem to be fairly limited to ROM, keyboard and motherboard replacement procedures.
I don't have any spare //e's at my disposal and am not interested in paying eBay prices for one (considering many schools simply threw out dozens of these things over the years!), but I do have a ][+ (with Woz signature I got a few months back) and a IIgs (nothing special) to play with.
Would love to find a more detailed diagnostics manual!
