Hi All,
Had to contribute my two cents. I have seen a 'newer' Mac successfully
operate a 5.25" Apple ][ diskette drive. A local library had a Mac ][cx
with a 5.25" drive attached to it. I used it once to 'test the theory' and it
formatted the diskette with no problems and copied files to it, too. I
even went as far as to flip the drive upside down to make sure it wasn't
a 'Mac' product - nope - said nothing Mac-specific on it. Unfortunately
I did not have a ProDOS diskette with me (it was in my other trousers ;-)
to test to see if it could read it, but would imagine that it would. I checked
the Apple menu and the System folder for any obvious drivers and didn't
find anything out of the ordinary.
Regards,
-John
