It is a common problem for tourists to take rocks from the petrified
forest in Arizona. To prevent the disappearance of the forest, so
there would be something for future tourists to see, a law was enacted
that made it illegal to take rocks from the park. Every little bit counts
when a reasource is finite. It's also the same with endangered wildlife
and rare plants. Walking off with a piece might not seem harmful, but
with many pieces being taken it becomes a big loss.
