LOL. Don't worry. We now have preliminary schematics, and they're being
mailed off to the others with technical ability to be 'proofread'. If there
are any flaws in them, I am confident that they're minor. Actually, that's a
fib. I expect them to be just fine. I just gotta get off my butt and find
some suitable sram and flash, and we are set to go.
BTW, in quantities less than 100, the WDC 65c816 (PLCC) is $6.14 per chip,
far cheaper than I had expected. With 25 'pre-orders' we easily meet the
$100 purchase minimum. That one had me a little worried.
PCB: Assuming a size of 2.5" x 2.75", www.expresspcb.com will sell
double-sided, 2 soldermask, 1 silkscreen boards for $14.91, at a quantity of
25. Qty 50 drops it to approx. $8.50, qty is $5.10 or so. That's part of the
reason the more people participating, the more likely it is to succeed. These
prices are't truly accurate, it's tough to say right now if the board can be
that small. I've read of cs8900a designs that are only 1.5" x 1.8", but they
lack a processor/ram/flash, not to mention a few support chips. The chips
are small, but trace density is going to be a problem, if we try to cram
them on to small a board. Does give us some idea what to expect though. I
may be wrong, but I also think we can get slightly cheaper price on these.
Need to do more research.
