OK. Done it. Pulled the 68LC040 and replaced it with a 68040RC-33.

The IIe card works perfectly.

Although this is Mac, not A2, data, you may be interested in the following
Speedometer performance ratings:

[all of these are given as: CPU / graphics / Disk / Math / Overall]

'Stock' LC475:   0.883 / 1.010 / 1.967 / 4.669 / 1.145
Q605/33, no FPU: 1.149 / 1.160 / 1.974 / 6.163 / 1.381
Q605/33, FPU:    1.164 / 1.171 / 1.966 /19.815 / 1.415

ie, a 23% increase in overall performance, 32% increase in CPU performance.
