Well, to date the only machine I've had any difficulty running the IIe card
in was an LCII - it wouldn't function at all. Don't know why. I've used the
IIe card in an original LC and in an LC475 with no problems.

The LC 475 is almost identical to the Quadra 605 - all it lacks is one
jumper at the front right of the motherboard. So I tried adding this
jumper, changing the machine into a Quadra 605 - the IIe card ran with no
problems (adding the jumper really _does_ make it a Quadra 605 - run Apple
System Profiler and it will report it as such).

Then: I hacked the machine, speeding it up from 25MHz to 33MHz by changing
around the resistors on the bottom of the motherboard (see
http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~schrier/q605.html ).

Without jumper (33MHz LC475): no problems with IIe card
With jumper (33MHz Quadra 605): again, no problems with IIe card.

So now I'm running a IIe card under Mac OS 7.5.5 on a 33MHz Quadra 605. It
is perceptibly faster. The next step is to get hold of a full 68RC040
processor and swap it for the factory-installed 68LC040-25 and see what
happens...
