Re: Modern A2 successor

You have to realize, a system like this is NOT an Apple II. It's a
whole new type of computer which can run Apple II software at the
hardware level. Running Apple II software should not be the only
thing it does. Considering all the hardware listed, it would be
very inefficient to run only in the 8 or 16 bit Apple II modes.

I agree that nobody will by a II clone system, but people will buy a
new system, esp' if there is some type of useful software available.
The new system would need an edge, something unique or special. It
must also have easy access to the web, a really terrific OS (which
runs in native mode) and be simple to use while retaining that Apple
II feel.

You can never tell what the consumer will do. It's obvious that it
(or any computer) will not replace the PC, but there are a lot of
people around the world looking for an alternative. I see no reason
not to encourage someone with an idea. As for breaking even or
losing money, every entrepreneur takes that chance. The loss could be
reduced if spread out among a group of investors. Granted, these
investors would have to be people who believe or at least think the
project has a chance.

Of course, it's highly possible that someone will want to buy the
rights to such a system sometime in the future, making all the
investors very very happy.
